What I’ve Been Up To Lately
We moved to Miami last summer, and it’s been better than I expected. Currently enjoying meeting new people and discovering new spots. Let me know if you’re visiting!
I’ve had a partially-completed project lingering in a git repository for almost years now. I hoped to launch in 2020, but you know … supply chain issues.
It’s beyond time to finally ship it. Hoping to do so by springtime.
Improving My Spanish
Miami really is a bilingual city, and it’s quite frequent that my Portuñol is better than others’ English. My comprehension isn’t an issue for the most part, but I do have a (predictably) strong Portuguese accent and sometimes words fail me where Spanish and Portuguese differ (easy example: setas vs cogumelos).
My goal in 2023 is to read 10 Spanish language books. If you have suggestions, let me know! I’m specifically looking for books that were originally written in Spanish, not a translation.
Taking a break from Twitter
Though I was never a huge Twitter addict, I was definitely visiting the site a few times a day as reflexive procrastination. Though I mostly follow tech nerds, Twitter’s UX meant I’d see all sorts of tempting junk food distractions that I don’t need in my life.
Like many these days, I set up a Mastodon account, which I’m trying to use with some frequency for (mostly) tech nerd stuff. A lot of the web development community has moved over as well, so I still feel like I’m keeping up with things.
I gained about 25 pounds since COVID destroyed all routines March of 2020, trying to get back down to my historical body shape.
