The Blue Scholars are a local hip-hop band with good potential. Their intelligent lyrics and old-school jazzy beats will appeal to fans of Jurassic 5, Ugly Duckling, or People Under the Stairs. Standout tracks include “Blink” and “Bruise Brothers.”
I’m a little late here, as the album was released last year.
Registered users can sample this as part of the album of the week.

You guys are amazing. I love the way you can articulate what is on your mind without using blasphemy. Your ingenuity is unique and your style is different from other hardcore rappers. Blink was one of the greatest songs I have ever heard. The beat was simplistic and captivating. The lyrics were so well organized that all I could was listen in awe to the songs gaudy beats and intellectual lyrical masterpiece.
I am only 13 but I agree with Anonymous Blink may be the best song i’ve ever heard, and it’s lyrics were so true
Hip-hop. Let me first say that: “I Used to love H.E.R.” (see Common.) But after discovering the Blue Scholars, they have rekindled my love affair with Hip-Hop. Not only do the Blue Scholars epitomize everything my former snobbish underground Hip-Hop listening ass appreciated, but they also happen to epitomize being a student of Hip-Hop in Seattle -unadaultered/socially aware word-work, incredibly complimentary beats, Pacific Northwest social awareness, sh*t… I left Hip-Hop shortly after Company Flow’s debut album -Funcrusher Plus. At the time, to me, that was the epitome of bare bones avantguarde sh*t. 5 years later, Blue Scholars helped rekindle my love affair with Hip-Hop. PUSH UP YA LIGHTA!
