Taroko

Taroko is a large national park on the mountainous Eastern side of Taiwan. The park is centered around the Taroko Gorge, formed by the erosion caused by the Liwu river.

The park is gorgeous; unfortunately I posess neither the photographic skill nor equipment to do the park justice.

This building is a tomb for the hundreds construction workers who died making the tunnels in this part of Taiwan. It’s actually the fourth version of the tomb, which keeps on getting destroyed by nature (earthquakes, typhoons, large badgers).

These are fantastic shots. Is there a tour of Taroko, or are you supposed to explore it on your own somehow?

  2. The park is huge. You should either go on a tour, or rent a car and drive yourself. I did a tour (didn’t feel comfortable driving there).
